NASA views from above...

NASA has some amazing footage everyday of what's happening in the world as seen from above. Here are a few recent pictures. If you click on the title (which is in purple), it will take you to some really amazing information about that photo. And here is the link to the website if you'd like to look at more (or if you want to subscribe like I did). 1. Dust storm over Afghanistan.


2. Carbon monoxide levels over Africa.

Its just getting into the hot dry summer below the equator now, and that climate pattern in conjunction with the tendency to burn crop lands and pastures (something we do here in the states as well) results in these incredible levels of atmospheric CO over parts of Africa. Sometimes these fires get out of control, as can be seen in this photo (explained in more detail here).


3. And while Africa burns, northern India is suffering from the ravaging floods that come with the monsoon season. These two pictures show India 'normally', and during the floods. This same website had similar images for Iowa just six months ago!
